Ingredients

Serves : 2
  • 1 cups basmati rice


  • 3 nos tomato medium (chopped)


  • 1 nos onion,medum(chopped)


  • 1 nos ginger


  • 1 nos cinnamon


  • 2-4 nos cardamom


  • 2 nos cloves


  • 1 nos bay leaf


  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder


  • 1 tsp coriander powder


  • 1 tsp kashmiri chili powder


  • 2 nos green chili


  • 2 sprig curry leaves


  • 1 sprig coriander leaves


  • 2 tsp oil


  • 1 tsp salt ,somr to taste


  • 1/4 tsp mustard(as needed)


  • 1/2 cups sambar dal

Directions

  • Cook 1 cup of basmati rice in 2 cups of water with cardamom, cloves,cinnamon and bay leaf in it.
  • Cook the rice with little turmeric powder and salt as required and keep it aside
  • Heat oil in a pan , splutter some mustard and dal .
  • Add on to it chopped onion, saute till it turn to light brown color.
  • Meanwhile add ginger,green chilli and curry leaves.
  • Once the raw smell is gone , add turmeric powder ,coriander powder and kashmiri chilli powder and cook well.
  • Then add chopped tomato, mix well , close the lid and cook till tomato becomes mushy.
  • Add cooked rice and mix well with the above combo.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and curry leaves.
